apples on a tree

Tehachapi is known for some of the best tree-ripened apples in the country.

As summer begins to give way to fall, an important question in Tehachapi each year is when will apple season begin?

As usual, the Tehachapi News has provided an overview of the 2020 apple season, with reports from growers. According to the Sept. 18, 2020, article by Darla Baker, the following apple orchards are open for the season:

  • Pulford’s Appletree Orchard
  • Knaus Apple Farm
  • Dries Farms
  • Kolesar’s Orchards
  • Ha’s Apple Farm

Growers are reporting a lighter than usual crop and a shorter season, with the warmer weather as the major culprit.

The coronavirus has taken a toll on apple season, as well, with appropriate adjustments made at the point of sale.

Sadly, the virus has also made it necessary for the Tehachapi Apple Festival set for Oct. 10-11, 2020, to be canceled this year.
